Training & Personal Development at Aurecon NZ

8.1
8.1 rating for Training, based on 7 reviews
Please describe the training programmes at your company and tell us what skills you've picked up.
Formal training - largely done online through the AureconU portal. have recently updated a lot of the mandatory training to make it better, some of the older stuff was starting to feel really outdated especially the online safety and security stuff. As there was a large grad cohort that started at once, they could organise a lot of the formal/mandatory training stuff for us to do together which was great. Informal training- Most of the learning/training is achieved by just working on projects and doing new kinds of work/tasks. Senior staff pretty good at taking time to explain/teach. Will sometimes run workshops for common topics eg report writing on onsite working.

There was very little formal training outside of essential IQ which did not cover anything technical relating to my role. There is however a lot of resources which the company provides to help in technical training. Help from colleagues and on the job training have been the best source of technical improvement and I have learned two different software while greatly expanding my GIS and industry knowledge this way.

Lots of formal training when you start, via interactive online modals. We are encouraged to go to professional events and keep up to date with professional development.

I have picked up numerous skills. We have different departments that host learnings/trainings for all sorts of skills. You also learn most of your skills on the project.

Sometimes it is hard to get formal training approved, but the required training is all very useful and the informal training I have received from others in my team has been valuable.
