Pros & Cons

  • Company policies eg. Flexi time, working from home, and sick leave help maintain a good work-life balance Supportive senior staff Engaging work
  • Access to the best software - Very inclusive and supportive working environment - Flexible working hours/location - Very interesting projects
  • Flexible working is one of my favourite benefits, and everyone promotes it by working hours that suit them.
  • Flexible hours. Interesting projects. Good people.
  • I am exposed to a wide variety of things and work with great people with lots of knowledge
  • Work sometimes has unclear deadlines Given urgent work with a short notice deadline
  • I would like the opportunity to meet the rest of the geospatial team in person as I am the only team member in my office
  • Smaller than some consultants in NZ.
  • Nothing :)
  • Quite often people are busy with things so it can sometimes take time to get help, but usually, this is okay

I feel like Aurecon has a great culture and I like the structure of the cooperation. Everyone I work with is super friendly and always able to lend a hand or provide advice even if we work in different teams/projects

Satisfaction
The work is interesting and varies with each project; day to day there is a good mix of site work and report writing or technical work.

Management
All good managers, are accessible and available to help whenever. They talk through and explain things well and keep us informed of decisions etc, often will thank us and recognise work or milestones with morning teas etc.

Office Work Environment
Good amenities - eg. tea/coffee, breakfast and fresh fruit provided Tidytidy bathroom and kitchen facilities Can be a bit dark sometimes - limited natural light and the fluorescent lighting can be rather harsh, especially in winter have my own designated desk Good central location - easy to get to on public transportation Dress code is business casual - want to present as tidy and professional but management is not overly strict. A precise dress code was never really laid out, it's more that if you're dressing unprofessionally your manager might let you know but I've never had any issues. Have casual Fridays. Also, make allowances if doing a lot of on-site work (can dress more casually/practically)

Recruitment
I had an interview with the service group director and got an offer on the spot. It was a simple expression of interest, CV etc and then in personal interview to see more so what my interpersonal skills were like.

Salary
I am very satisfied with my pay and bonuses and have been recognised where necessary.

Training

Training
There was very little formal training outside of essential IQ which did not cover anything technical relating to my role. There are however a lot of resources that the company provides to help in technical training. Help from colleagues and on-the-job training have been the best sources of technical improvement and I have learned two different software while greatly expanding my GIS and industry knowledge this way.

Work Hours

Work Hours
As a graduate engineer, I need more direct supervision so it is encouraged I be in the office during business hours so I can get the help I need easily. But the managers have no issue with me flexi timing or working from home some days as long as I still work my required hours and my ability to get my work done is not negatively effected
